To advance the art and science of pain medicine by promoting and maintaining the highest standards of professional practice through education and research; by aiding and encouraging the education of medical students, residents, fellows, practicing physicians, and other health care providers in pain management and by obtaining and publishing scientific information in pain medicine and management.
